You've Got Mail

We want to bury you in virtual junk mail!!! Bwaa ha ha ha!!!

Seriously, we won't bother you much, just whenever something important happens. That could be a song release or an upcoming show. It won't be a deodorant ad. Unless they pay us a lot of money... Bwaaa ha ha ha ha!!

A new year

We've learned a number of things since starting this somewhat grand project:

* Everything takes longer than you expect;

* Life doesn't stop just because you're doing something crazy and important to you;

* Your day job doesn't care about the crazy and important thing you're doing;

* Life is short -- don't dawdle.

I won't bother to explain that last point, except that it's got us inspired to do our best to carve out the time we need to complete the process for this album.  Everything that you've seen and…

Awakening

Ordered some acoustic treatments for the recording studio this past weekend.  Should have everything delivered and installed by mid-April.  Don't intend to wait, however.  Got a lot of tracking to do on the last 5 songs, will have some sessions going by end of March.  Watch your Instagram for updates!

Hibernation...

John Lennon sang, "life is what happens while you're busy making other plans", and that sorta describes the state of our album.  None of us are full-time musicians, and some of us have more non-musical demands than others.  For the last few months, non-musical demands have managed to push Left on Mainstream aside.  I know you're devastated ... :-)

I'm hopeful that the non-musical demands are starting to wane, and we'll be able to put more effort into wrapping up this album and starting on the next one…

Our Town

The album is being recorded at something called, "The Sunroom" in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The reality is, it really is a sunroom.  About 20 x 12 feet with an 8-foot ceiling, brick floors, and an east wall of mostly glass.  There are french doors in the northwest corner leading to the house, and french doors on the northeast corner leading to the backyard.  The backyard is kinda funky now, but in its day it had cherry and apple trees, grapevines, grass, and swingsets.  Our kids grew up in that backyard…

New songs!

Slowly but surely we're making progress toward completing the album.  Today we uploaded another song, called "Every Day".  It's another "my baby done left me" country ballad, written and sung by Dean.  Later tonight we'll be uploading another song, called "I Never Knew Love Could Hurt So Much" (not the longest song title in history ... not quite, anyway :-)  This is one of Tim's songs from the late 1980's - early 1990's, possibly one of the best heartbreak ballads ever.  But I'm prejudiced, of course ...

Angels - the Last Single?

Finally finished the mix for "Angels and Blue Eyed Cowboys".  It should be up in a few days, however long it takes CD Baby to process it.

"Angels" is one of a collection of songs that Tim wrote back in the late 1980's - early 90's.  He had made demo cassette tapes of the songs, which got put away in a shed and forgotten.  One day he was going through the shed and found the tapes.  He brought them over for a listen one night, and that's basically how the Left on Mainstream project got started.  The final…

Getting Started

Well, the Facebook page is up now.  Not much there yet, but we'll be working on it this week.

Working on the mix for the next "single", called "Angels and Blue Eyed Cowboys".  Another country ballad by Tim.  Ought to be ready by next weekend.

This is all new to us, our first album and in some cases our first songs.  Hope we're doing it right.
